Q: Can I use a stage name? A: Sure. Stage names (pseudonyms) are quite common in the Adult Entertainment Industry just as they are in Hollywood and other acting and performing arenas. You can choose one or we'll be happy to help you come up with a suitable name if you'd like. The only times we need to know and use your real name are when we verify your age and on our Model Release and Agency Agreements. Q: Is acting experience necessary to earn good money? A: No. While acting/performing experience can be helpful for some assignments, there is plenty of good paying work that doesn't require it. Q: Do I need to perform sex for the cameras? A: Yes. By definition that's what XXX-Rated Erotic entertainment is all about and why it pay's so well. You must be willing and able to perform the various common forms of heterosexual sexual intercourse and oral sex on camera. Q: What if I get started and decide that this really isn't for me? Am I committed to anything? A: Our program is risk free with no commitment. You can back out at any time knowing that everything done at meetings and in the studio is 100% confidential and will be seen by no one unless and until you decide otherwise. Confidentially and your freedom from commitment are legally covered in detail in the model release and agency agreements. You thus have nothing to lose and potentially much to gain by giving our program a try. About 50% of those who do portfolio shoots go on to earn good money and bring in commissions for us. The other 50% decide that they aren't cut out for this kind of work. Unfortunately, experience has shown that it's impossible to know in advance which direction any give applicant will go. Some that initially thought that this would be ideal for them decide against it and some others who were hesitant but gave it a try are now some of our best earners. The only way for you to know for sure is to give it a try. Q: What sort of personality is best suited for this type of work? A: Just about any. Depending on the project, casting directors will look for personalities covering everything from shy to outgoing, passive to assertive, serious to funny, etc. The only required personality traits are that you be able to work well with others, can take direction on the set, and are dependable and punctual. Q: Is it hard to do this sort of stuff in front of a camera for the first time? I’m worried I might be pretty nervous. A:
As with most things when they’re experienced for the first time, it’s easier
for some than for others and some degree of nervousness at first is quite normal.
Just about everyone gets through the awkwardness after a few shoots so it’s
nothing you should be concerned about. We work individually with each our
clients in a supportive and sensitive way and take things at a pace suited for
them till they get through this initial stage and become comfortable in front of
the cameras. A: This is impossible to easily answer because there are so many variables involved including how often you're available to work, the type of work you'll accept, how widely distributed the project will be, and how well we capture that "special something" in your portfolio. TalentMatchers has reported that during last calendar year clients who had been with them for a year or more had average annual earnings of between $36,000 and $48,000 for between 24 and 36 days of work. That works out to $3,000 to $4,000 per month for about 2 to 3 days of work per month. Q: What's involved before I can start earning money? A: First you apply. If we're interested in you we'll schedule a meeting somewhere in public to determine if both of us want to proceed. If we do, we'll go over and sign our standard model release and agency agreements, usually at the meeting. Next are your portfolio shoots. (Note that we find it time effective to schedule your first shoot in conjunction with, and immediately after, the meeting though the meeting and first shoot can be scheduled separately.) Typically two portfolio shoots are required. At the first we do a "get to know you" video interview, shoot your still photos, and shoot some preliminary video scenes. After the first shoot we examine the results and put together a plan for the second shoot (which will be primarily video) that best brings out your personality, strengths, and artistic attributes. Finally, we edit and put together your portfolio and transfer it to TalentMatchers for their approval and posting on their secure website. The whole process typically takes a few weeks on average. (For the details, see the How It Works page.) Q: What is my Portfolio? A: That's our term for the final package of edited photos and video of you we'll put together along with other supporting information. It'll be posted on TalentMatchers secure web site to be viewed only by a select and screened group of industry casting decision makers who, if they like what they see, will make job offers. The portfolio typically contains still photos along with a few minutes of video. Some of the photos/video will be of staged basic scenes required by TalentMatchers and others will be more spontaneous, free-form, and creative. It typically takes at least two photo/video shoots to complete your portfolio. Q: Do I get paid for my portfolio shoots? A: No. Because your portfolio is confidential and will never be distributed for profit by the terms of your modeling agreement with Colorado Creativity there is no cash stream now or in the future for the portfolio to pay you from. The portfolio is used only to obtain ongoing highly paid work for you once it is posted with TalentMatchers. Colorado Creativity and TalentMatchers only get paid when you get paid by a studio. Some modeling agencies will charge you for preparing a portfolio. We don't. Q: It sounds like quite a bit of time and effort to put together my portfolio and get me listed. Why is this? Another agency I saw on the internet only wants a handful of photos and can get me listed almost immediately. A: Well, like most things in life, you tend to get out of something what you put into it. You might get lucky but generally the "quick and dirty" agencies will shoot a few pictures, lock you into a contract you might regret, list you without a lot of confidentially (if any at all), may not be particularly sensitive to the needs of entry-level talent, and will more than likely end up finding you second or third tier work that doesn't pay all that well. If you want regular work with top industry studios that pay top dollar and respect you as a professional, you'll need a detailed, high quality portfolio that will actually get looked at by top industry casting decision makers. That's what Colorado Creativity and TalentMatchers have to offer (see the About Us tab). Q. I've seen short ads which don't tell me a lot offering quick cash up front for this kind of work. What are they all about? A. With an occasional exception these ads are mostly from small-time local operators that few have ever heard of which do limited freelance work. They can be here today and gone tomorrow. The immediate up front cash may sound enticing but, unlike Colorado Creativity, these operators usually want to quickly get you into the studio having signed their modeling agreement before you've had adequate time to seriously consider what you're getting yourself into, something you may come to regret later after your photos or videos are released. In addition, they generally provide only one time employment rather than ongoing work. Also, these operators can frequently be lax in enforcing the stringent medical testing for STD's that TalentMatchers and the major studios require. Q: By signing the Model Release and Agency Agreements am I committing myself to anything I might regret? A: No.
You can change your mind and back-out at any time right up to the point you choose to take a paying
industry job with one of TalentMatchers client casting decision makers.
If you do back-out your portfolio will be removed from the TalentMatchers
database and no one will ever see it again as per the terms of the agreements. A: No. As long as you are at least 18 years old there are no legal restrictions which will prevent you from working as a photographic or video model, performer or entertainer in the Adult Entertainment Industry. Photographic and/or video adult industry work should not be confused with prostitution which is illegal in most states or live erotic entertainment which can be restricted locally in many areas. Q: The age of consent in Colorado is 17. Why must I be 18? A: Because you're legally not employable for national distribution till you're at least 18 years old. If you're 17 and live in Colorado you can apply if you'd like and we can get you started but you won't be able to do paid shoots till your 18th birthday. Q. Why does the average person get into this kind of work? A. The most common reason is certainly the money since it offers such great pay for very little work. Other common reasons often cited include the opportunity to be part of a fun, exciting, and growing industry, the ability to play out one’s fantasies in a safe and controlled environment, the opportunity to travel to new and often exotic places and work with interesting people is a factor for many, and some consider it an interesting and creative means of self expression. You’re the only one who can decide if it’s right for you. Just remember that we offer what most agencies don’t: a way for you to try it out safely, confidentially, and without any commitment should you decide that it’s not for you after giving studio work a try. Q: I'm a little worried about STD's. How can I be sure I won't get one? A: Those who work in Adult Entertainment for reputable companies are today no more likely to get sexually transmitted diseases then those in the general population. This is due to the industry's rigid frequent medical testing requirements. You and everyone you work with on the set in a manner that can transmit STD's will have been recently tested. Because of this it's actually more likely that you'll get an STD from someone outside the industry than from someone on the set. If you're experiencing any symptoms which could be an STD or you're at high risk of having one, you should get tested before submitting your Colorado Creativity application. Q: Will I have any out of pocket costs to get started? A: Unlike some agencies, we don't charge you a fee to put together your portfolio and to get you listed. We earn our money as commissions directly from those who hire you. But because we allow you to back-out at any time and thus have no guarantee that we'll ever make any money on you, we ask that you pay for your own initial STD testing (which is something everyone should have done periodically anyway). Such tests are readily available at a reasonable cost and you can have them done anywhere you like. Your medical tests can usually be delayed till after your portfolio shoots if you'd like to wait and see what studio work is all about before committing the money. Q: How does employment in this business work? A: When casting decision makers show interest in you from your TalentMatchers listing you'll be contacted to see if you're interested and available. To help you make a decision you'll be told the nature of the job, when and where the shoot will take place, and how much they're willing to pay. Most jobs are of short duration for those new to the industry and may take anywhere from a few hours for a still photo shoot to a day or two for a short theme video. Travel (all expenses paid) is sometimes involved though not always. Some assignments will be one time jobs and others will be repeat work for those who are pleased with the previous work you've done for them. Typically TalentMatchers clients will work a few days a month, on average, during their first six months or year with some periods being busier than others. Q: What sort of erotic things am I required to perform to make good money? A: To be employable you must be willing to perform nothing more than the common forms of heterosexual intercourse and oral sex since this is where most industry activity takes place. During your portfolio shoots such activities will be in the context of everything from classical love making to straight forward sex and we don't do anything rough unless you specifically request it. You can sometimes earn more money per shoot and/or increase how often you work if you're willing to perform optional sex acts such as gay/lesbian or bisexual scenes, group scenes, greek, water sports, bukakke, orgies, bestiality, S&M, etc. but such activities are purely optional and are not required to make you employable. We'll ask you if you're interested in any optional activities as part of getting the final information needed to post your portfolio on TalentMatchers. Q: I'm interested but don't have a lot of experience with sex so am a little apprehensive about applying. Is this a problem? A: Not at all. In fact, sexual inexperience can often be a big plus for some types of assignments. At our portfolio shoots we'll take things slowly if necessary in our accepting and supportive studio environment and train you on what you need to know at a pace you're comfortable with. We want you to be at ease because your portfolio will turn out better. Casting directors will sense your level of experience from your portfolio and make their job offers accordingly. Inexperience is not a negative and wont prevent you from working. It will however affect the types of assignments you'll likely initially be offered. As your experience level increases, the types of assignment you'll do will change accordingly. Q: Where will my portfolio shoots take place? A: Colorado Creativity operates primarily in the metro Denver/Boulder area of Colorado. Weather and other circumstances permitting, we'll sometimes shoot on location in the area but generally our shoots take place in our comfortable studio in a suburb between Denver and Boulder. Q: I currently work weekdays from 9 to 5. Will I be able to schedule my portfolio shoots at some other time? A: Probably. While we prefer to work a regular work week, we do periodically schedule shoots on week nights and/or weekends for the benefit of those who can't make it during standard workweek hours. Q: Who will I perform with at my portfolio shoots? A: Typically at your first shoot you'll work with the Colorado Creativity staff however the second shoot may involve others depending on the circumstances. Q: Are Colorado Creativity personnel tested for STD's? A: Absolutely, we're tested regularly and will have proof available in our studio. Q: My friend and I are both interested. Can we do this together? A: Sure. You'll need to apply as individuals but we can probably interview you together and, if we accept both of you, we can usually shoot your portfolios together. There is no guarantee, however, that you'll both obtain work together. If you want to apply with a friend, both of you should submit your applications at about the same time and let us know on the application the name under which your friend is applying so we can match up both of your applications. Q: Can I bring a friend to my portfolio shoots? A: Perhaps. We generally discourage this because it typically just complicates the shoot and causes it to take longer but if you feel that a friend absolutely needs to be there to provide moral support, this can be worked out. Please notify us in advance if you would like to bring a friend and be aware that they will need to sign a legal release indicating they know and agree to the kind of activities taking place and that they will maintain confidentially. Q: Do I have to accept all work offered to me? A: No. You're free to pick and choose which assignments you'll accept. However, if you repeatedly turn down offers to the degree that you aren't making sufficient money for them, TalentMatchers reserves the right to place you on inactive status. Q: I'm interested but would just as soon not have my family and friends find out how I'm bringing in extra income. What are the odds that they'll accidentally see me in a magazine or video? A: Its certainly possible that they will but the odds are really, really small. Generally, this is not something you should worry about. The Adult Entertainment industry has become so huge that the odds of anyone you know accidentally seeing your work are extremely low (unless you tell them about it, which some do, or you become a widely known star). It simply rarely happens at the level that most of our clients will work but there is no guarantee. You'll have some control over your exposure based on the type of work you accept and the effects of professional makeup, camera lighting, etc. can produce a deniability effect as most people don't look quit the same on camera. Is that you or just someone who looks somewhat similar? Q: What are your "Fast-Track Openings" all about? A: Fast-Track openings occur when we receive special requests for certain types of new talent based on specific factors such as appearance, individual personality traits and talents, and/or what models/performers are willing to perform. Casting decision makers usually make such requests when they have a project coming up reasonably soon which requires certain types of performers, possibly in a specific location. Since individuals meeting such studio requests are more likely to be immediately employable, we give them priority in getting their portfolios completed and posted on TalentMatchers in an effort to beat the studio casting deadline. If you meet the requirements of a currently posted Fast-Track opening, you should note it on your application. (Current Fast-Track openings are posted on the top of our Home page.) Q: I've noticed that most of the girls I see on the adult web sites have had a bikini wax. Do I need to have one before my portfolio shoots? A: No. This has been common in the industry over the last 20 years or so but the trend is beginning to reverse itself. Also, some shoots require pubic hair. The safe approach is to not remove pubic hair unless and until a paying job requires it. This makes you more flexible to potential employers. Shaving only takes a few minutes if necessary. Growing it back takes time.
